Book Store Highlight of the Day

Today I had a unique problem at work (okay perhaps not unique, but still a problem). So yesterday we got in a giant truck load of Christmas Crap (and other stuff, but mostly just more crap that no one needs), but I digress. Anyway today my manager calls me to the stock room and tells me that he has a conference call so I have to unload crates and put everything on library carts to go out on the sales floor. My manager returns to the office and I get ready to unload crates. I quickly discover a problem. These crates are stacked about 8 feet high and many weigh somewhere around 50 pounds or so, I on the other hand am 5'2" and have yet to crack 100 lbs. Now there are a few crates that have been taken down, but I quickly unpack them and find myself staring up at the 8 foot mountain of crates wondering how the hell I am going to continue unloading. I grab a step stool and attempt to lift down the top crate. Problem #1 The box apparently contains about a thousand copies of Webster's Dictionary. Problem #2 Zero amount of leverage as I try to lift this box that weighs more than I do. Problem #3 Surrounding crates are precariously balanced so shifting any other box will result in a collapse with me not coming out on top.
I climb off the step ladder to consider my options. I quickly determine that there really aren't many other than "accidently" knocking over the stack of crates. ( telling my boss that I'm too much of a weakling to lift a freaking box is not an option). I stand poised to bring down the mountain of crates (TIMBER!!!) when I hear the conference call end. My manager returns and I hide the step stool and innocently mention that I'm a little too short to reach the top box. He kindly retrieves the box for me and returns to the office never knowing how close he came to having total destruction in the stock room. Oh well, there is always next time.
